19 Month Update

Well this is a little bit late…wanted to wait until after Jackson had his official check up with the pediatrician. We should have gone when Jac turned 18 months but our pediatrician was on maternity leave with baby #4 …ack!

So she’s back and we went earlier this week for his check up. We officially no longer have a baby….he’s a little boy now! L And who would have ever guess this child was a preemie?!? According to the “charts” he’s in the 97% percentile for height at a whopping 35 ¼ inches and the 75% percentile for weight at a hefty 27lbs 9.5oz! Preemie…what preemie! He’s outgrown his Buddha belly and slimmed out a lot lately losing all his “baby” fat. He’s a lean toddling machine for sure.

This past month we took a trip to Mt. Carmel so Jackson could meet his Great Grandma Colvin and also get to spend time with Grandpa Lee and the “other” Colvins. Jackson loved playing with Hannah and Sam. He enjoyed showing off in the pool with them and enjoyed the many meals we all had together. (Jackson discovered the love for pizza crust thanks to Uncle Andy!) Jackson is less shy these days and even went to Aunt Nancy with no hesitation what so ever! It was great to spend time with everyone despite some crazy weather that weekend 100+ the first day and barely in the 60’s by the last!

Jackson spends every day with Grandma and Grandpa Stroud. So it’s only natural that we try and work with him to say Grandma and Grandpa. Well, as stubborn as the child is with talking he has decided he has a name for Grandpa and it’s not the typical Papa, pawpaw, ganpa…no nothing like that. Jackson refers to Grandpa and BopPa ???? We don’t know how or why…but this is what he has officially named Grandpa Ron. So BopPa it is…we can add that to the word list. He is saying “Up” now as well. So we have the basics, Momma, Dadda, Daddy, Baby, Ball, BopPa and Up. He tries his darndest to say Banana but it just doesn’t work. Grandma Vicki did get him to say Jackson the other day and it sort of sounds right I did hear it…but I can’t get him to repeat it. I am sure I will look back on this post about him not talking one day and wish that he only still knew 6 words….lol.

The “Strouds” took Jackson to the Cardinals games this past month too…mommy got access to VIP Suite tickets (they only way to experience your first real baseball game!!!). So Grandpa Ron and Grandma Vicki, Mommy and Jackson went to Busch Stadium and enjoyed a Cardinals Win! Jackson was just mesmerized by everything and only stood still to watch the game for a bit…he was on the go the entire night but LOVED every minute of it. We all had fun and look forward to taking Jac again next year!

We were supposed to go to the Zoo last weekend for the Zoo Parents event since Jackson is a parent to a Giraffe, but the crazy rain never let up and we didn’t go. So we are hoping that we can get a day this Fall to head back to the zoo soon. On Monday Jackson had his Dr Appt and received his shots so he was cranky…well during his nap a huge surprise was delivered to the house. When he woke up that afternoon he heard the commotion in the backyard…and was mesmerized by what he saw! They were building a giant Swingset Playard! Adam got home just in time for us to unveil the new set to Jackson. We will post some video of him getting to play on it for the first time soon. Ever since Jackson pretty much begs to go out back and ‘play’!

Jackson continues to love swim lessons and is preparing for our trip to Cancun next month. He now lays out on his belly in the bath tub and kicks his feet like he does in the pool. He also ‘blows’ bubbles…more like gulps water by dipping his mouth in…he will get it eventually (so the swim instructors tell me, lol). He loves to splash around and drench me he just thinks that’s hilarious of course!

Well that is pretty much what’s happening with the little man these days…we hope you are all well. Next month should be a great post as we will post one we get back from Cancun!
