Hello everyone!
The Mommy has been super busy with stuff and hasn’t been very good about updated this past 2 months so here goes.
Jackson is growing like a weed and over 24lbs now! Hard to believe he was ever 4lbs. He’s getting thicker and a little taller these days. Last month we decided that despite the ease of bundling him for the chilly weather it was time to retire his baby car seat and move him up into the stationary “big boy” seats. Well the day I decided we were doing this we had a fluke snow storm, of course. The nice firemen at the Edwardsville Fire Department installed all 3 seats for us. (mom, dad and grandma Vicki’s cars). He’s still rear facing due to the new recommendations and because we feel that is safest for him. He loves to fling his leg over the edge of the seat and chill. It’s rather amusing. We think he enjoys being a little more up right and able to see better out of the window in these seats. We the big people all miss the ease of the baby seat of having him stationary for loading and unloading the cars!
Let’s see Jackson has learned a lot since our last update. He can now tell you where his ear, belly and legs are. He also knows what a ceiling fan is and knows that it turns. He can also show you “how big” he is by spreading his arms in the air above his head. He can wave bye, bye and clap too. His laughs and giggles are even more infectious these days. He’s a ball of energy that never stops. He’s cruising around like a pro with very little assistance, but not off and walking on his own just yet. He does take a few unassisted steps and walks here and there, but would prefer to have a finger to just have as back up before he takes of basically running! We think that he’s just waiting to master the skill before he lets go for good. His toys are just a joy for him these days. It so cool to see him figure his toys out and know what to do with them. How to turn them on and make them work, put them together and laugh at their sounds. Everything is a learning experience for him and it’s great to watch those wheels turn.
We’ve been able to get out a bit with the weather being nice here and there. He LOVES to go on wagon rides and stroller walks. He chatters to the animals he sees and “talks” to the other babies and kids in the neighborhood. He squeals with delight at other kiddos! It’s a riot. Recently we purchased a tree swing for grandma and grandpa Stroud’s house and Jackson loves to swing in the backyard on nice days. Once the tree gets all its leaves this Spring we have a feeling it’s going to be a favorite place to be this summer! He loves to play in the pack and play at their house and look outside the patio windows at the squirrels and bunnies. He chatters away at them and squeals at them as they play in the backyard. He’s been known to occupy himself for over an hour doing this on some days!
Jackson started swim lessons at our local YMCA 3 weeks ago and it’s been a little stressful for him. The first week was pure torture…he cried and clung to mommy the entire session. The 2nd week daddy came into the pool with us and he did a little better and only cried about half the session. Well week 3 was the charm! Mommy and Daddy both swam with him and he didn’t cry at all! He even started to get more adventurous and actually not cling to us and do some of the activities. So we will continue to go and see how he does!
Jac to this day has yet to meet an item of food he really dislikes and is a champion eater. He’s eating 3 full meals a day and snacks. (Grandpa Ron often wonders if he will eat the entire plate of lunch that mommy packed? But of course he most often polishes off the entire plate! LOL) He’s doing pretty well with his Moo Juice (Cow’s Milk), but we are struggling to get him to drink milk from a sippy cup. He does great with water in his sippy cups but not so much with the milk….go figure. So we will keep trying to get him to do better with that.
He is cutting some molars these days and it’s been pretty painful and causing some series crabbiness. He’s got two bottom molars coming in for sure and we can’t tell if the top ones are coming in yet or not. Teething just sucks for him and everyone…it’s tough!
We are gearing up for Jackson’s 2nd Easter this year. This past weekend we were supposed to go to our neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt but the weather was awful so they postponed it to next week, pics to come. Sunday this past weekend we took Jackson for some Easter pictures with real live baby ducks. He was pretty intimidated by the ducks…he wanted to touch them but when they came close they scared him. We struggled to get any smiles out of him so they aren’t the best but there are some cute shots.
On the slate for the next month or so we have Easter, Baby Benjamin’s 1st Birthday (the last of the boys to turn 1!!!), a friend’s wedding and who knows what else might pop up! We are all looking forward to steady nice weather and getting out more with Jackson so he can start exploring and experiencing the world!
