Hard to believe another fast month has gone by and Jackson is now 8 Months Old already as of this past Saturday. Here is what Jackson is up to these days.
Went to the pediatrician for his flu shot last week and did great only momentary tears after the shot. Weighed in at 14lbs and 2oz. The nurse did the shot and he liked her until she stuck him then he was all about momma! He’s a flirt with the ladies. We go back next month for his full 9 month check up and will have length and weight etc. done then.
He is still not quite sitting up on his own but he is doing well when he sits on your lap with sitting upright with little assistance. He’d rather stand than sit though. He is doing great on his tummy. He is starting to straighten out his arms and push up in preparation to crawl. He hasn’t quite figured out that he needs to get his legs underneath himself yet in order to move. He’s a rolly polly however; I call it the alligator death roll! Makes diapers changing interesting for sure!
He is getting his very first teeth! He’s working on 2 bottom teeth at the same time. Noticed the little razors about a week ago and now if you can catch a glimpse under his tongue (which is always sticking out hehe) you can see there are two side by side coming through. They’ve broken the skin so the worst of the crankiness is past us for these two so far. Thankfully he is not drooling much at all…which apparently is what most infants do but not Jac he is content to just gnaw on his fingers. I was lucky enough to be able to take a full week off to be with Jac while Grandma and Grandpa Stroud vacationed in Mexico this past week. So glad it was a mommy week when he was cutting his first two teeth. Spared the Grandma for the first round of teething at least!
Now that Jackson is technically past the 6 month adjusted age mark we have started him on big boy food. We are not going about it conventionally by doing purees instead we are doing what is called Baby Lead Weaning. So he has been diving into plates of food since we started and has enjoyed it so far. He is getting the hang of grabbing what he wants and “chewing” on it. After the first couple of days he even has managed to actually consume some of the food we’ve given him. He’s had: Chicken, Beef, Eggs, Butternut Squash, Snap Peas, Green Beans, Broccoli, Red & Green Peppers, Cucumbers, Tomatoes, Lettuce, Mashed Potatoes, Strawberries, Pears, Plums, Peaches, Nectarines, Cantaloupe, Wheat Bread, Whole Wheat Pancakes, Bagels, Cream Cheese, Cheddar Cheese and a sippy cup of water too. So far he’s tried everything we’ve put in front of him with no aversions. He just dives in literally. He likes to pile it all up in front of him and then “scoop” it up to his mouth at times. He’s yet to learn he has a thumb and basically grabs everything by the fist full and sucks/gnaws on what sticks out. He’s pretty good at looking at something and grabbing it though. It’s a really fun processes watching him manipulate the food and going after what he wants to try next.

Jac is looking forward to celebrating his friend Elliot’s first birthday which is on the 12th this coming weekend and then we have a two more 1st birthdays then it will be his turn to party! It’s amazing to think that this time last year 4 of us were still pregnant awaiting the arrival of our kiddos! Now on to watching them grow way too fast.
We are looking forward to Halloween this year with Jackson. He will be going with us to the Ed/Glen Halloween Parade and riding in Grandpa’s truck as we tow the USO float in the parade. We are hoping for nice weather for the parade that night. Hoping to make it to the pumpkin farm this month too!
