Well Jackson is officially 7 months old now!

Here’s what he’s up to:

Mr. JAC has grown about ¾ of inch and gained 13.5 oz since his Pediatrician appointment for his 6 months check up by my own at home measurements. So he is weighing in at 13lbs 13.5oz and is 26.75 inches tall.

He can sit up right on your lap happily and play with his toys, hands and sometimes bend over and chew on his feet. He can’t sit up on his own yet but has some serious strong core strength and will stand up on you forever playing and dancing around. He is starting to reach for small toys and things. He sometimes gazes at his hands like “hmm what is that, can I make it do what I want?” When he is bottle fed he “helps” by holding the bottles with a little death grip….so tight in fact his finger tips turn white. He’d happily chew on the empty bottle forever if we’d let him (not a good practice to teach for mom since I am still nursing…ouch!).

He is jabbering and vocal now and knows how to get our attention when he wants something. He loves to play in his Jumperoo and smack at his toys while bouncing. He is very intrigued with mirrors and what he sees in them. He will happily stare at himself and watch himself for awhile as a means of entertainment. Dinner time at our house is interesting as is breakfast at grandma’s…he’s starting to take notice that we eat food and watching intently. He struggles with sitting in his Bumbo Seat at the dinner table correctly. He likes to launch over the side and hang over…not good for teaching him how to sit up right L. So I think we are going to start plopping him in the high chair at dinner time so he gets used to it before we start foods with him next month.

We’ve been cloth diapering for just over 5 months and so far so good. We moved JAC into his “big boy” cloth dipes about 1.5 months ago and he seems to be doing great with them. Grandma has figured out the type she likes the GroBaby/GroVia Hybrid All in Two Diapers, we have another type that is for Dad and I am somewhat addicted to buying him cute colored and printed ones! He has one of his dark green Bumgenius Organic All in Ones on in the picture above with his little wool knitted cap on that Nana sent. A lot of people said, “oh that won’t last” or “yuck cloth diapers that is gross”. But I have to say it’s been very easy and very cost effective too. We use cloth wipes and diapers so no needing to run to the store because babe needs dipes all the time!

JAC is so tall that we’ve had to ditch the 3-6 months sleepers for the 6-9 months sleepers for length. He’s a tall little dude. They are roomier and should last till the winter I hope. He is pretty much wearing 3-6 months clothes in all his other stuff. I am going to have a tough time with pants for sure. He’s long and skinny…kind of grateful for his “fluffy” bum in his cloth diapers it helps hold his pants up! I’d say that in the next month or so we’ll be moving him more towards his 6 month clothes for sure.

Jackson is enjoying ridding in Daddy’s new shiny and we are enjoying the weather now and hope to spend more time with JAC outside as the Fall approaches. He will be making another trip to be in the military this month, we are headed to Whiteman Air Force Base in Knobnoster, MO for an event for the USO. He’s done the Army already and Fort Leonard Wood so now he’s going to check out the Flyboys in the Air Force too.

We hope everyone is well and thanks for keeping up with us/Jackson on his blog!
